Notes

As can be seen when going to Page 1 above, Tolosa was in New York when war broke out in Norway on Apr. 9-1940, departing that same day for Norfolk. It'll also be noticed that she appears to have made 2 (possibly 3?) voyages to Greenland later on, but arrival is not given. Her 1941 voyages also start on this document and continue on Page 2, which indicates that she made more voyages to Greenland that year.

Final Fate - 1942:

Tolosa was expected at Chester, Pennsylvania on Febr. 10-1942, having left Kingston, Jamaica on Febr. 1, but was never heard from again. Torpedoed on Febr. 9 by U-108 (Scholtz) and sunk 34 40N 73 50W. (Tolosa did not have armament on board). According to Uboat.net (see link to U-108 at the end of this page), she was hit underneath the funnel by a G7e torpedo and sank fast by the bow after a boiler explosion. The U-boat surfaced after the attack and saw survivors clinging to swamped lifeboats, but could not assist them due to the danger of an air attack, and all 22 died - 16 Norwegian, 2 Swedish, 2 Danish, 1 Norwegian/American and 1 British.

For info, U-108 was also responsible for the attacks on Christian Krohg,Blink,Norland and Brenas - follow the links for details.
